Prince Turki Al Faisal Al Saud, one of the Arab world’s most prominent diplomatic and political powerful figures, and who is the grandson of the founder of Saudi Arabia King Abdulaziz, and son of the late King Faisal, praised the strategic leadership and diplomatic approach adopted by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during the recent period of heightened tensions and war between Iran and the United States.
Saudi Arabia faced considerable pressure from the United States, Israel and several regional allies to join military action against Iran. Despite these pressures and various provocations, the Saudi leadership chose a path of restraint and diplomacy rather than direct military involvement.
Prince Turki stated that Saudi Arabia’s decision was guided by two key considerations. Firstly, he argued that the conflict between Iran and the United States had been encouraged by broader geopolitical objectives linked to Israeli interests in the region. Secondly, he warned that any direct Saudi involvement in military action against Iran could have triggered a devastating regional conflict involving multiple Gulf states.
Had Saudi Arabia entered the conflict, he suggested that Iran’s response would likely have targeted not only American interests in the region but also key infrastructure across Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain. Strategic facilities, including oil installations and desalination plants along the Gulf coast, could have become major targets, potentially resulting in severe economic disruption and humanitarian consequences throughout the Middle East.

Prince Turki explained that such a scenario would have led to widespread destruction, heavy civilian casualties and long-term instability across the region. The patience, restraint and diplomatic policies pursued by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman helped prevent a much larger conflict and reduced the risk of a catastrophic regional war.
Prince Turki expressed the outstanding role of mediation played by Pakistan’s Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir must be credited at the highest level for his outstanding diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing further escalation.
